Do You Know How to Clean Your Leather Shoes?

Leather shoes. From boots to sneakers – leather shoes come in various styles and are perfect footwear to wear on rainy days. But no matter how durable they are or how nice they look, they still can start looking worn and ugly over time. And that’s something you don’t want, do you? Knowing how to clean and polish leather shoes will keep your footwear looking good and preserve for years. Just follow these simple steps.

1.Remove dirt or debris with a soft shoe brush. Gently rub the brush against the surface of the shoes to remove stuck-on debris. Do not rub too hard as it might damage the leather. To be thorough, run the brush along the seam and soles of your shoes.

2.Remove the laces

 Remove the laces (if your shoes have them) before wiping the shoes down with anything!

3.Use soap to remove tough stains.

 Dip a cloth or a soft shoe brush into water, mix it with a bit of soap and wipe the exterior surfaces of the leather shoe，and rub it in small circles onto the shoe with the soft side of our special brush. You can also use it to remove dirt between grooves. Be careful not get the leather too wet. It is better to repeat the process with less water and soap instead of using too much at once.

 When dealing with tough stains or scuff marks, dab onto them. If they’re still not removed, start to gently rub the stain with a bit of pressure.

 4.Wipe off soap.

Use a second clean, damp cloth to wipe off the soap. Dry with a towel. Warm, soapy water will also remove water stains and scuffs.  

 5.Condition leather.

Apply leather conditioner to protect from stains and to add shine. You can buy a commercial leather conditioner or make your own by mixing 1 part vinegar to 2 parts linseed oil. Apply to leather, let sit for about 15 minutes and buff with a soft cloth till the leather shines.

6.Dry

Let your shoes and boots dry in the open air. Don’t put them in the sun or by a heater, as this may cause the leather to fade or crack.
